Prep. Time:
Ingredients:
Directions:
Boil pasta in salted water 2 minutes less than package instruction time. (You want it to be a bit firmer than al dente)
Meanwhile, brown sausage in a pan.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
When pasta is done, drain and return pasta to pot. Add sausage, marinara sauce, cream, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Stir to combine.
In a greased casserole dish, place half the pasta mixture, followed by half of the mozzarella and half of the remaining Parmesan. Repeat layers.
Put into the oven and bake, uncovered, until the cheese has melted and browned, about 15 minutes. Sprinkle with fresh basil and serve.
To Make ahead: This dish can be assembled and refrigerated, covered, up to 2 days in advance. Since the dish will be cold, the baking time will need to be increased. To bake, cover tightly with aluminum foil and place in a 450°F oven for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is lightly browned and the pasta is hot throughout. May also be frozen. Thaw and follow above directions.
